Preanesthetic Blood Work

Your pet will be undergoing general anesthesia today. In order to recognize any hidden problems your pet may have, we recommend running a preanesthetic blood profile.
This consists of a CBC (Complete Blood Count) which will check blood cells, and a chemistry profile to check blood glucose, and kidney and liver enzymes.
These blood tests will help us more completely assess the health status of your pet and determine if there are any additional precautions we need to take before anesthesia.
For any pet over 7 years of age, we highly recommend a geriatric work-up which includes the blood profile plus a urinalysis, an EKG, and a chest X-ray.
There is an additional charge for these tests, but we know you understand the value of having these tests performed.
